Default A Letter From Fayah

Nite Owl,
Thank you so much for your incredible work!

I received this email yesterday from a friend in Iran, and am trying to get it out to as many people as possible. It's probably not something you'd want to include in your brief, but maybe you can help me help her to be heard.

"I love life. I love to laugh and be with my friends. There are so many books I want to read, movies I want to see, people I want to meet. I want to marry, to be a good wife and mother. I want to grow old with the people I love, to feel the sun on my face, to see the ocean, to travel.

My country is in a terrible state. People have no jobs. There is no money. People have no freedom. Women must hide themselves from the world, and we have no choices.

Our people--we are not terrorists. We hate terrorists. And that is what our government has become. They kill our people for no reason. They torture us in their prisons because we want freedom. They make our country look evil, they make our religion look evil.

We are fighting for our freedom, for our religion, for our country. If we do nothing while injustice abounds, we become unjust. We turn into the ones we hate.

I have to fight. I have to go back on the streets. I will make them kill me. I will join Neda, with my friends, and then maybe the world will hear us.

I never thought I would become a martyr, but it is needed. The more of us they kill, the smaller they become, the more strength the people will have. Maybe my death will mean nothing, but maybe it will buy my country freedom.

I am very sad that I will never be a mother, that I will never do the things I love, but I would rather die than do nothing and know that I am to blame for the tortures, the murder, the hatred.

Please tell the world how much we love life. That we are not terrorists. We just want to be free."

Never Apologize,Never Explain

Default Thanks for getting the GB out

Thanks for getting this brief out. Your work is the equivalent of a reliable and complete news organization. That's why it's exhausting, and that's why (if you can,) please keep at it

Just send out a tweet if you need help with any of it.

Default Bless you for your efforts, Josh

I know that keeping up with all this so closely and carefully has to be hurtful to you every day and wearing over time. It means to much to so many to have a source of real information, and that includes old Americans like me, who--before this election--never thought of Iranians as being anybody but bearded religious nuts--tracing back to the Jimmy Carter crisis--with the current leader being a perfect model... Seeing these young Iranians fighting and giving their lives for simple fair treatment is an eye-opener to us.

"A Letter From Fayah" brought tears to my eyes. That young people should have to make choices like this is unreasonable and unreal. How can a country, in today's 'enlightened' world, treat their children like this. What do they want their future to be? The Government of Iran is isolating and poisoning their own future, but to what end? How can they possibly imagine this serves even they who wish to maintain control with their violence against their own people?

God bless those who give their lives and their futures so that Ahmadinejad and the leader cannot operate in the dark. I wish we could save you, but only your own people can do that. When will THEY have had enough? I hope, for all of our sakes but especially for yours, that that time will come soon...

I've passed this on to Fayah and her friends. They'll be out of touch from now until who knows when. I'll be posting updates of her status as I get them, if you're interested.

Thank you. I will be watching for updates. They need to know that many care what happens to them. It is with mixed feelings that I encourage them as I know what may result, but they ARE their country's best chance...
