Default Firefox Plug-in Anti-Keylogger

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3383

In response to reports that keylogger attachments may be being spread in Iran. Are there any mirrors?

"KeyScrambler Personal encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level to protect your information from keyloggers. "

That's bullshit, a firefox add on can't do shit in kernel mode as it runs in user space.

Be careful with this, I don't trust it, I wouldn't install it.

Actually, it can. Note that the addon is for Windows only - some do stuff outside of Firefox too.

KeyScrambler defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. When the encrypted keystrokes reach your browser, KeyScrambler then decrypts them so you see exactly the keys you've typed. Keyloggers can only record the encrypted keys, which are completely indecipherable.
What don't you trust about this Firefox addon? I absolutely would recommend people add it for added protection.

Look mate, without being too technical...

The only way you can do something in kernel mode is loading a driver.

An Addon runs inside Firefox and firefox IS NOT a driver.

So... An Addon CANT do anything at kernel mode.

For the not technical guyz, be advised this thing is at least to be doubtful.

Well mate no need to get snarky. Don't be advising people what not to do, without at least explaining why. It makes you look arrogant.

It's not arrogant mate, is just that I think a Operating System class in here would be out of place.

For the interested and technical people:

Quote:
A computer haves 2 kind of programs, some run in "user mode" and others run in "kernel mode".
All you common programs, like word, excel, your browsers, games etc work in user mode.

In "kernel mode" only runs the operating system and the device drivers.

The operating system implements a mechanism to separate the modes so a program running in user mode wont be able to modify the actions a kernel mode program does unless its designed by to do it.

The only program that can modify the keystrokes at kernel mode its a driver that replaces the default keyboard driver.

Hope it clarifies a little at least

To be blunt, you're chatting shit. Keyscrambler (even Keyscrambler Personal), does not simply run inside Firefox, it encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level. This is one of the reasons you'll notice that upon installation, you have to restart your machine before Firefox/Internet Explorer/whatever other browser you're using can make use of it, and "yes, it most certainly can protect a large number of types of kernel level Keyloggers too."

Is it perfect? No. But NO product is.

It is however, amongst the best commercially available Keyscramblers.

Another big benefit, that comes from my own experiences of playing with it, is that certain keyloggers (and these are by no means unsophisticated ones) actually force it to stop working. Not great. But as you get a BRIGHT RED warning that it's no longer scrambling your keystrokes, it kind of gives the game away. Kaspersky on the other hand - which I love and highly rate - had detected nothing.

Please don't spread fear and misinformation when it's clear that you either don't know what you're talking about, or haven't done your research.

Keyscramber is a very good tool.

Been using it about two years. So this isn't being posted by a non-user. I have noticed no ill-effects.

When some of my WoW guild users were hacked with loggers a bit back, my account was not hacked. I do recommend it. It's not perfect, but it is better than nothing.

Default lots of questions

This download /program, was made before the Ianian elections,

And this is one that is Mozilla approved,
I've had trouble getting stuff thru them.
I mean straight forward stuff.

And they look at not only "it do no harm"
But I can't be used to harm.

Any way if it made it thru Mozillas
approval I'd trust it.

Lots of FF extensions that don't
have mozilla approval or my trust.
