the whole thing was started by:
Log In | Facebook I just thought that it will be a nice idea to post the info here too. I got a message from the group today, if it is correct then the mails/phonecalls to the Bayerischer Hof already had some effect: "I had a phone call with the assistant of Ms. Volkhart, Mr. Meffert: They expressed regret for the event in their house. "We didn´t know what one is letting oneself in for", he said to me. It was a mistake of them, that they didn´t gather information about the regime in Iran, he also said. He promised, that they´ll never organize any event for the Iranian Consulate! The huge problem at the moment is for them to cancel the dinner: Because of a "banquet contract" with the Iranian consulate which sais, that they are just allowed to cancel the dinner 1 week before. If the "Bayerischer Hof" contravenes the regulations of this contract, they may become indicted. The lawyers of the "Bayerischer Hof" are considering the contract and the possibilities of getting out of it, at the moment. I´ll resive a phonecall and an email, when they have any news. This is just what they told me." |

I received the following in reply to my protest email from today. It mainly says that since it was announced as a meeting of Iranians living in Germany (95% physicians, engineers and graduates) they didn't feel forced to reject the booking.
And now it is too late to step back. Quote:
