Any web-based Farsi to English translators?

Discussion in 'Translations' started by BillyBob, Jun 16, 2009.

  1. Are there any websites out there that can translate Farsi? I checked Babelfish and Google Translate, and they don't offer this service. It would really be useful to help bridge the language barrier.
  2. Translating farsi posts on twitter that I think are reliable, but it is getting to be time-consuming. I know there are more of us out there who can do this, but we've got to organize. I'm tech stupid. Any ideas?

    I'm Farsi stupid

Not sure how to orginize this:
Maybe set up a central location for all
    that needs to be translated?

I can set up a Wiki,
    just post farsi
and someone translates? Either way...English to farsi.

Any Idea what kind of volume we are talking about?
    How many translators we have?

  4. Dont we need an automatic translating system? Wouldn't it be possible to write one up that can be better and better as more people fill in the correct translations? I think Google translate works in this way. If a lot of people worked on it I think it would be pretty fast before we got a decent translating system.

I'm thinking of a system that can automatically translate twitter posts and websites. And if someone sees a translation that they think is wrong they can change it and thus making the system smarter.

Neural networks can be used to do this. Anybody have the skills to set up such a system started?
