They are just walking into the chambers.

I've received a couple replies from the email that I sent to the senators today. Not much time to review all of them, I'm sure.

The only thing that would make this more exciting is spontaneous rugby matches between this dude and all the rabble-rabblers yelling at him every 5 minutes or so.

I imagine they are organizing the info and testimony that has poured in. Also, I imagine that the other senators are reading the emails and starting to ask for more information.

Be aware WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY start at 9:30 not 12:30

    http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/work/routineofbus.htm

Also, on WEDNESDAYS from 12:45 until 14:00 is set aside for "Discussion of matters of Public Interest" - perhaps the Senators are becoming increasingly aware that this is a 'matter of public interest' and maybe (hopefully) some of them might have something to say.

re: Australian Senate Stream - Postponed to 26th Nov

To be fair, the attempt to railroad through of some of the biggest financial & environmental legislation in Aussie history does deserve their focus.

When you've got all the independants, both the greens and the climate change deniers, and a bunch of other senators with a concience all lined up against the rushing through of some 'secret deal' and '14 billion dollar last minute changes' (which apparenty they found out about yesterday) agreed between the bigwigs of the two major parties, that probably is going to push everything else to one side.

What I find odd is that NZ is also pushing through it's parliament today an emissions trading bill that is also seen by pretty much everyone as a big polluter subsidy, and relying on the negotiated support of members of a party who's constituents don't want it. Bizzare number of coincidences.

As the senators have been saying over and over again - what's the rush to get it through TODAY, before ANY senators have had a chance to review the legislation, when copenhagen, and hopefully some co-ordinated global action, is only 9 days away.

BTW: The Aussie shadow minister for science is a disgrace to things scientific.

re: Australian Senate Stream - Postponed to 26th Nov

Oh don't get me started on that! :p

Oh and for a bit of background - underneath the emissions trading issue there's a big split in the coalition regarding whether anthropomorphic climate change is real or not. There was a big spat last night in the shadow cabinet with Turnbull saying they would accept the amended legislation negotiated between Penny Wong (labor) and Ian McFarland (liberal) after a while saying "I'm the leader and I'm making this decision" then declaring the meeting over.

Leader of the opposition in the senate (Nick Minchin) is a staunch climate change skeptic/denier - and there's a threat of a leadership spill with both sides claiming they have the opposition numbers behind them. We could end up with Tony Abbott (who has recently switched to the skeptic side), or Joe Hockey (in the Turbull camp) as the new opposition leader - so it's one of them "watch this space" kind of things.

    Ahhh, politics!

But yes - this isn't just an issue because of the actual issue - but also because of the whole Coalition tensions associated with it. There's a huge media focus on this at the moment.

then this delay is in our interest i guess. gives us more time to work and gives xeno more time to garner support. but the suspense is killing me.
