Am I the only person that would wish to stay as far away from burning man as possible?

    Hippies scare me.

Also Paul Addis is a great man!

I expect that many of you don't like it or don't understand it or don't want to go. Not a problem.

I'm going. Scientology is going. I'm looking for support plz faggots.

Hey is it cool to wear a guys faulks mask at burning man?

Also do you need to be invited?

Is there a site with the rules of burning man. Like can you smoke inside the venue or is it totally smoke free?

What happens during this burning man thing? Is it like a church revival thing, lots of preachers?

Can I bring my iPod (once I find it) and blast it or is there a sound ordinance?

Any help with these questions would be appreciated as I plan on attending and need to catch a flight shortly. I'd hate to travel that far only to find out I didn't know the proper etiquette.

    Toodles.

Oh never mind on the GF mask thing. My friend just told me masks were cool but that there is rumor going around that if you wear one you will be taken out back and beaten mercilessly until you confess your crimes.

I wont be wearing mine because of this rumor.

All I can say to those going to Burning Man is!!!!

Look for Rainbow kids, they are not really into any religion, and if you trade them something cool, they will help you out regardless. Make sure they know about $cientology before you hit up that camp with them, but they can be a pretty good help. Seriously though, get help, and hang out with some Rainbow.

    Loving you!

There won't be cops to call for trespassing in a theme camp. Any ideas on this? I'm not covering myself in pubes regardless.

burning man like a church revival? LOL its the most non- pagan pagan event I've ever heard of. lot's of naked people + giant burning effigy = similar in MANY ways to many pagan events. never been to BM myself but I'd love to go.

Thanks for the idea on the sign, explaining VM is actually the Cult of Scientology. I'd love to hear favorite things you like to shout and chant, you faggots beyond SF...

Crap. I am going for the first time this year and I briefly wondered whether the scilons would have something going on there, as it just seemed kind of like something they would do.

Does anyone know if they've set up a camp before? For some reason, I just seem them doing failing miserably.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

@Starbuck the Scilons, to my knowledge, have never gone in any organized format. There were some sad Scilons who individually liked Burning Man who posted on the burningman.com forums and were essentially ridiculed into shameful silence.

I alerted friends in the Burning Man main office, and they were all surprised to learn of this.

Yeah He is making a very good point. Also you should all take Super Soaker Squirt Guns. Who knows what the rainbow kids will offer to fill them up with SRSLY.

Even if you are just squirting good ole water it will make the Sciloons m0ar paranoid. It is in the desert so take lots to drink.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

You guys could go with 3-5 people and create a huge snowball there, and gather a ton of folks. Take extra masks if you can, and give them to people who are willing to help. Believe me some times things like this take on a life of their own at the festival.

I would not worry about them beating you up to get you to confess your crimes. There will be family there that won't allow such a travesty to take place. There will be heavy duty dosings upon scientologists if they try anything nasty. Find the Family, and recruit them to join in the enturbulation.

Find the Merry Prankster kids also because they will grant you epic LULZ

    this^^

These are people who get naked and play drums and live like a huge family for a week.

Let it be known who the scientologists are to your new friends. You could all get free touch assists to bond over. :)

They'll never even know who is anon and who is not if you don't want them to.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

Alright cool I'll find the family then.

Are they like the Aryan Brotherhood?

Last time I was in prison those guys watched my back. So if the family is anything like them it should be good prison rape sex and protection all wrapped up in one precious and delicate little package.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

Hmmm, should all Anon Burners meet up?

Judging by what I've seen of their ridiculous yellow tents, the volunteer ministers might not be prepared for life on the playa. All those e-meters may not be properly protected. It's also just stupid because if they think they will be able to spread their message to open-minded hippies...well, it's not just hippies who go.

I wonder if BM will allow them to set up (some could already be there, as those in my camp who with early passes arrived yesterday and today to begin the setup), as they will just bitch about being discriminated against by an group which claims to practice "abstract self-expression and self-reliance".

But I will laugh hysterically if I see them all running around trying to keep their tech books from blowing away in a dust storm.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

There will probly be some assholes there get too drunk and too loud. This could be seriously lulzy if everyone knows vm=scientology. lol

    *requesting vid in advance plzzzz

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

Lulz some of them are like that actually. It takes all kinds just think of it like anonymous for drug users, and strange cats. It's all good I never went to burning man, but I have been to plenty of Grateful Dead Shows, and other festivals all around the USA. They all have their differences, but in the end they are all very much the same.

Burning Man is more Artsy and shit though it is not a festival geared mainly towards hippies. There will be lots of Techno Vikings there.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

Yeah it is sort of like an artists convention/ freak show/ gigantic party/ comicon.

You will see some crazy shit there that's for sure, and you will get hella fucked up if you so desire.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

Find a way to lure the scientologists away from their tent. They will have to use the portashitters eventually. Find a way to get them away from the others and help them cut loose and party lulz.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

This is kind of a deal breaker. I'm from the 19th Amendment Revival Church and if there is one thing we don't stand for is the juices of the devil corrupting young minds. Smoke all the pot you want and tripballs to your hearts content but fermented juices are the devils drink.

I shall pray to my lord and master for all your souls.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

You don't have to drink. Pack yourself lots of juice water etc. I think you should go tho. I wanna see vid of you being body painted nakid. :)

Who wants to lure them away from their camp into the mouths of giant "art clams"?

The Burning Man Project :: Welcome Home

It is an art event, and I believe you are supposed to have some sort of artistic theme. There is a plethora of ideas for what you can do to the scientology tent. You could act out the Xenu story every day in front of their tent or what ever. It is a strange event to say the least.

Dude, if I want to hang out with a bunch of costumed freaks over Labor Day weekend, I'll do it where there are hotel rooms and air-conditioning.

    That's why I'm going to Dragon*Con instead.

I really want pics and video of the enturbulating going down at Burning Man, though. Sounds like it should be extra-special-lulzy.

    Re: Burning Man '09 (Aug 31st-Sept 7th)

It would be hilarious if the e-meters choked on dust like center camp's computers, but I would expect them to do all right. I figure this is headed by one or two of the aforementioned pro-burner scilons, and hey, they are brainwashed into enduring lots of humiliation.

I would love for those of us going to meet up and be at least a little organized. I will think about this and if any other experienced burners have ideas, please help us figure out when and where to meet. I can tell you I'll be there sometime late Tuesday.

My landlord is a Burner. I emailed him about the VMs and he said that non-profits and corporations are strickly not allowed!

Some carefully crafted notes from us might get them kicked out. But do we want that? We don't often get an isolated crew of Scilons to play with. I'm kinda with Ultrapoet in that I prefer air-conditioned splendor, but in this case, I wish I were going!

As far as the VMs bringing their own supplies, if they don't bother when they flock to disasters, I bet they'll be bumming water and food off people.

@ Anonymous et al, Re: taking extra masks, I am taking 20 extra masks.

Is "Rainbow Kids" a specific named group or camp, or is this a general term to describe a lot of people who go?
