Death Hamster, you be the best!

That link only confirms what I suspected. They've done it in the past. They do it now. Betcha lots of people remember that $cilon fail move from 2007.

More and more the robot $cilon ways are becoming known to all. The cult is failing fast.

explain to me why, when we're swimming in a sea of win, as soon as somobody notices a dead fish at the bottom or that the guy next to them pissed in it, we evacuate the waters, drain the sea and fill it back up?

I'm glad the madhair pointed this out. It's kind of ridiculous to bitch about scientologists spamming form emails considering WWP encourages that kind of thing all the time.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

Actually Amnesty International encourages that kind of thing (form letters) as well, but it makes it clear that it's an Amnesty initiative, and the purpose is usually to call attention to something - not to ask people to ignore stuff.

I just took a look at the email I just sent...I can't believe I just sent a mass email to the entire Senate of Australia. Kind of surreal.

Amnesty International also has letter-writing campaigns to make sure terrorists locked up abroad get enough vitamin C in their diet.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

A few things that may help us change the balance [don't know if OP wants to update with any of this]:

    (1) Hushmail and Gmail do not show your IP address to the recipient, so if your girlfriend/boyfriend/housemates want to send emails using your computer, there won't be the suspicion that it's actually the same person responding multiple times.

    (2) To make it 'slightly' more personal, I've broken the Senators email addresses down into Male Senators and Female Senators. As such it means that you can use the BCC function (this stops the recipient seeing all of the other addresses the letter's been sent to), allowing you to address it Dear Madam, Dear Sir (or similar). Remember that BCC is NOT the same as CC (where the recipient will see the addresses of ALL the other people that you sent it to).

    (3) If you're unsure of what to write, I've reposted some excellent tips from Emma at the bottom of this post.

    (4) For ease, I've also reformatted the address list, so that each address is separated by a comma, allowing you to simply copypaste them into the BCC box.

As you no doubt know, the 12 Aussies who've come forward have already started receiving "Black PR" about them in the media. Their heads are on the chopping block, so please, please please give them the /b/lackup they need and deserve.

    Thanks.

Er...sorry...that was me that compiled it. I didn't get much sleep last night unfortunately.

Will report post now, and ask a mod to alter it, so that it's good to go.

    Thanks for the heads up.

This is easy to do and has impact. Get off your ass and do this if you haven't.

Also, post back here if you have sent poons so we can get a sense of volume.

2 versions used. Pooned from my personal addy (wtf?) addressing my personal concerns about Scientology, and then reworked with new links and sent from my tla addy.

If you don't want to use your personal email address, etc., you can still send emails using sites like:

    Send Anonymous Email

You will need a "sender's" email address to use this....so go here:

    10 Minute Mail
(this address and inbox expires pretty quickly, so don't expect to get a response).

Working on a third version now that will be addressed to Senate staffers who are reading and categorizing the emails...usually young, fresh out of college, working long hours (but paid a decent wage and provided health care, ftw).

I will brighten their day with a joke and some selected on-topic Youtube links...

EDIT: There is a limit to the number of email addresses you can fit into the address field using the Anonymous Email link above. You will need to split the list into 4 groups (send 4 emails).

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

From what I've been told they have pre-written letters ready for this kind of emergency. They spam them out making them appear to come form various names, some real scientologists, some just made up. But they all are pro scientology and they do this on a massive scale to try to bury any negative responses from the real world in pro scilon viewpoint. Deathhamster is awesome for finding this article, as we can use it in our harpoons now.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

Starting to get responses now, so definitely no automatics for me. Some will forward to senators, others saying they can only respond to mail from their own constituents so please supply an address in their district.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

Incorrect. Gmail does show ip's when you look at "show original." Also, you're writing to the government, chances are they would have a program set up that shows originating ip's as a precaution. My only concern is, are one of those Senators a scilon? *shrug*

Having said that, I don't think you should worry about private info. Like they're gonna care. Unless they're getting highly repetitive form letters (like sci's will send) they'll address each and every letter no matter where it's from and I don't think you have to worry about confidentiality - they're paid to represent and protect people.

Here's some good news, I poon'd the list Tiny put in the op when she put it up, so some time has passed. I have had a few auto responses, BUT I have also had a handful of more personal responses such as: "...your letter is very important...sorry to hear about....make no mistake I will take your suggestions and research this matter....etc etc"

    and this one response:

"Dear _______, I wish to acknowledge receipt of your email. I am overwhelmed and touched by the concern coming from outside Australia in regards to Senator Xenophon's Parliament address...."

She did read my entire 2-page letter because she went on to mention personal details that I included. I don't feel spooked at all either considering what I said in the damn thing.

Guise they're gonna read these letters. We have a chance to really make an impact here. If you haven't poon'd I encourage you to do it right now. Make it from the heart and use spell-check. Not hard.

^^ Did you supply documents from that case and the name and contact information to her? If not that was a useless - unless you can find it and send it to them.

Debate has been postponed one more day: More time for harpoons.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

So the senator for ACT only wants to hear from his constiuents - which is fair enough, but fortunatly doesn't seem to be the rule - Get your Canberra based friends and family to write him!

Actually, on re-reading - it just says there will be no fuller response to non-ACT folk. More than fair enough. Hopefully the actual emails are being read and considered.

I'm certain that you're wrong, see link:
User IP addresses - Gmail Help

As far as the Scilons getting it, I don't see that there's any reason to be concerned. That wasn't the point that I was making...it was more of a read between the lines statement...

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

I didn't know that to be fair.

Having said that, as stated in the article you've linked to, if the person's accessed Gmail through their browser, then there's no way you can obtain it. "However, if someone sends you a mail from his/her Gmail account using a client like Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail, you can find the originating IP address."
