Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game wow great turn out, signs ect... I am sure seeds of doubt were planted. Curious... Is it legal for them to film from the top of the building like that? Looks semi dangerous Also with all the barracades up, what if there was an emergency inside the barracades? Like a fire at the org or if someone was to faint from the heat or worse? I know the barracades are easily moved ususally? but they looked like they added wood to the barrades this time. IDK... *shakes head* I have to ask again.... how many churches have entire streets closed off when they open? and not let anyone see what's going on? Don't understand why this is allowed for a "church" opening and why the town still allows it. Also one more question, why should a public street have to be quiet for Scientology? I know this has been the norm for their other openings (DC), but it just all seems so retarded for them to have all these special privledges for a "church" opening. thanks for the vids!
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Silent birth? Here's hoping for stillborn....
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Because.... Of course they are not meeting for "religious worship" of any sort but it would be a brave person to test it out on the day.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game I know, I just don't understand how Miscavige cutting a ribbon, making a speech, and releasing balloons, constitutes as "religious worship" in any town. Over the top ridiculous
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Just for giggles... Was curious about those balloons that were released. Was it totally legal in CA? I know they were not foil....but they do mention latex below. Also not very "green" of COS in this day and age. "Foil and Latex balloons mixed in a bouquet must be weighed individually to keep them from flying away. http://www.ibaonline.net/Portals/0/docs/CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES THAT STEPS BE TAKEN TO PRO.pdf Here is the law on foil balloons, but as you can see it mentions latex on the bottom. CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES THAT STEPS BE TAKEN TO PROTECT ELECTRICAL POWER LINES FROM DAMAGE BY FOIL BALLOONS AND OTHER METALLIC BALLOON-RELATED ACCESSORIES. THE FOLLOWING STATES THE PENAL CODE THAT DETAILS THE EXACT WORDING OF THE LAW. CALIFORNIA FOIL BALLOON LAW PENAL CODE SECTION 653.1 (a)No person shall sell or distribute any balloon that is constructed of electrically conductive material, and filled with a gas lighter than air without; (1) Affixing an object of sufficient weight to the balloon or its appurtenance to counter the lift capability of the balloon. (2) Affixing a statement on the balloon, or ensuring that a statement is so affixed, that warns the consumer about the risk if the balloon comes in contact with electrical power lines. (3) A printed identification of the manufacturer of the balloon. (b)No person shall sell or distribute and balloon filled with a gas lighter than air that is attached to an electrically conductive string, tether, streamer, or other electrically conductive appurtenance. (c)No person shall sell or distribute any balloon that is constructed of electrically conductive material and filled with a gas lighter than air and that is attached to another balloon constructed of electrically conductive material and filled with a gas lighter than air. (d)No person or group shall release, outdoors, balloons made of electrically conductive material and filled with a gas lighter than air, as part of a public or civic event, promotional activity, or product advertisement. (e)Any person who violates subdivision (a), (b), (c) , or (d) shall be guilty of an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00). Any person who violates subdivision (a), (b), (c), or (d) who has been previously convicted twice of violating subdivision (a), (b), (c), or (d) shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. (f) This section shall not apply to manned hot air balloons, or to balloons used in governmental or scientific research projects. In simple layman’s terms, this means: All foil balloons in California must be individually weighted to keep them from flying away. Foil and Latex balloons mixed in a bouquet must be weighted individually to keep them from flying away. Do not use metallized string or ribbon when attaching a foil balloon to a weight."
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game The permit they were issued says they have to move the barricades as needed to allow emergency vehicles as well as traffic from local vehicles. I think they can satisfy that with the argument that in an emergency they are the only ones who can help. As for local vehicles, I think they just refuse to let anyone through and bet nobody would dare challenge them. It has to be quiet so that their parishoners can hear the explosions of Tech being released. The sound of balloon bombs detonating on public streets behind fortified barricades is the most highly protected of all public speech. Just because YOUR church doesn't throw mock grenades at Psychiatrists doesn't give you the right to deny this sacrament to others, you bigot.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game In the so-obvious-we-forget-to-mention-it category: What other organization, when blocking off a street for a big to-do, also erects massive *visual* barriers, so outsiders can't see in, or vice versa? Obvious answer: the kind obsessed with control of information. When little old scilon ladies mutter "Know what? Fuck you," under their breath before crossing the street, and when OSA operatives (or their flunkies) sidle up and ask, "[firstname] [lastname], right? Of [town of residence]?" it must mean we're having an impact. Also nifty when someone walks up, asks 'what's going on?' and then picks up a spare of Glibby's signs to stand with Anonymous in protest. The guy had now-typical horror stories to tell of an acquaintance who was trying to get out and being hassled in the process. Good raid. Glad to have seen so many familiar faces and masks. Thanks to the one who brought me water.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Section 302 applies for established places of worship, but afaik, the ideal org had not yet been established as one. Also, it would have been foolish to arrest or fine someone for yelling when the noise going on inside the event was much louder. Especially considering AGP did not get arrested nor fined, and that really says something. And if someone DID get arrested or fined, it would most likely not hold up in court. Another point: People passing by were less than happy about this street being blocked off entirely. I heard quite a lot of dissatisfied remarks from various individuals. I think even some of them worked for the city.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Also to add: I think I heard that the bar owner next door refused to close down for the night even after police asked him to. Not sure how long he managed to stay open though. He seemed mighty pissed as well.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game The business owners on that street in general didn't seem to be very happy about the org opening. Employees at several of them came outside the barricades to thank us and take pictures. Also: Did anyone else talk to the guys who were making the web TV show? There were four guys there with a camera who were really pissed off about being kicked out of the event. The guy with the tattoos, the host of the show, was a Pasadena local and was really upset that the cult was setting up business in his backyard. Anyone remember the name of the website? One guy had it on his T-shirt but I can't remember what it was.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Do you think you could run this one of its original size through photoshop and crop the area around DM so we can view it in a larger size? I assume the one hosted on the website is sized down. Also, imgur: The Simple Image Sharer | Upload and Host an Image will host original sizes.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game hear that, scientology? your neighbors already think you're douchebags
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Cos have their video of the event up Warning scientology site New Ideal Scientology Church in Pasadena, California | Scientology Newsroom - Church of Scientology International
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game I talked to the host, he was very knowledgeable about the history of Scientology, especially L. Ron Hubbard's involvement with Jack Parsons and their dedication to the philosphies of Aleister Crowley (Parsons started JPL in Pasadena, so his history is well-known there among the locals). We let him know that the opening was really just a dog and pony show designed to milk the Scilon public for cash and he probably shouldn't be too concerned about a Scientology "presence" there, since the org would be just another empty building before long. Didn't catch the name of the website, unfortunately.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game One of the co$ security said to me "You're new here I haven't seen you before when did they hire you?" I told him "Is that what they tell you?" and he kinda shut up then I told him he deserves more than $50 a week to which he responded "No I don't." I then told him you deserve not to be disconnected from your family, and he had no reply.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Oh, puh-lease. Surely, you can find something better to do with your time, like finding a law about using fake shrubbery at their events? It's a public eyesore after all. The balloons, btw, were standard toy balloons filled with helium.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game having lived in Israel for several years, when the balloons were released and there was a big bang of glitter, I honestly thought a bomb had gone off. It was scarry for a second until I turned around and saw glitter everywhere.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game It was touted as a "religious ceremony". Scientology is a recognized religion in the U.S. even if, in reality, it's a total scam. I didn't make the rules. By virtue of being a recognized religion, a ceremony took place headlined by a psychotic dwarf.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Vulture Minister shirts represent! From those shorts, I suspect that was Obamanon Great stuff guys, really well done. I just wish they'd hurry up and open one of the new Ideal Orgs over here, so we can have our own Suppressive Party...
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game The police tried to intimidate several businesses in closing down, per the Special Permit, granted by the City of Pasadena, including the art supply store on Raymond Avenue. When the manager learned customers were not being allowed in to come to his store, he raged at the Asian cop guarding the entrance and informed his attorney would sue him & the Pasadena Police. He relented and allowed people in, and they were escorted by Scio guards to & from the store. I also spoke to the manager of the bar. The Pasadena City Council is meeting today and I'm sure they're going to get an earful of how the City let them down to appease the cult. But hey, the Mayor was an enthusiastic guest at the event.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Interesting. With exception of the city mayor, no other politician showed up? Or maybe they chose not to speak. Nah.. maybe they realized that showing up was the greatest move in their career.. A reporter from Pasadena Weekly informed me that the new Pasadena Police Chief was an invited guest... he was a no-show as well.. UPDATE: I've confirmed that the dumbass cop who tried to intimidate me, Mark Lowell and a couple of other anons into stopping our filming.. until another officer intervened and persuaded dumbass cop to us alone & leave the area is Corporal Alejandro Pienado. He was or is a detective with the Pasadena Police. In 2007, the Jewish Anti-Defamation League gave him an award for combating hate: "The Sherwood Prize recognizes committed law enforcement personnel who make a significant difference in their communities and serve as role models for their departments. Individual honorees were: Lt. Fred Booker, Los Angeles Police Department; Commander Lynda Castro, L.A. County Sheriff's Department; Deputy Sheriff Rafer Owens, L.A. County Sheriff's Department; and Corporal Alexandro Peinado, Pasadena Police Department. " http://www.jewishjournal.com/circui...eroes_of_sherwood_rock_for_research_20070316/ I guess he didn't enough to sleep or he just loves the power & authority his uniform gives him.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game That bar owner should host special drinks promos during future CoS events. Xenu-themed cocktails, drink specials for anyone in a V mask. "Take a dozen drunken chulos, add a number of humourless clams. Mix and serve with a LULZ garnish"
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game Where's Part 12, 13 & 14, beef jerky?? The suspense is killing me... <snort>
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game I know you know the difference, but for the sake of our viewing audience who might not; Scientology is an informally recognized religion (as are most other groups that want to call themselves religions) in the U.S. Its not an "officially recognized religion" as there aint no such thing in this country. Its a tax-exempt charity (of dubious charitable standing) - which is the closest thing you can get to "official recognition as a religion". They are a few other things, besides a 'tax-exempt charity', some of which ought to be mutually exclusive with charitable status. It sounded like a bomb went off. Guess that's why all those 'Pasadena Fire & Rescue" folks were milling about the barricades?
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game I ran out of film so part 11 is the end. I had to delete some earlier footage just to capture what I did. The bus pulled away so I figured I could split. It was about 9:30 at that point anyway. While leaving I walked past a very pretty blonde girl in her early 20's who was leaning on a wall on her cell phone. She was upset and I heard her say " get on course" or something as I walked past so I quickly dove in to a stairwell and eavesdropped for a little bit. I heard her talk about "just getting there" and say "I don't even have an auditor yet". She seemed frustrated and upset. A handler walked by and looked at me suspiciously so I took off. Parts 2-9 will be posted later tonight when I get home. The best part was when a guy came right out of the event, walked right up to me and asked "do you know if there's a drug store around here?" He was totally serious!!! Yes, it's caught on tape.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game It sounded that way because of all the walls put up around the event and the sound waves had nowhere to disperse... I heard a number of Scilons leaving the event complaining that their ears were hurting after the glitter guns went off. The Pasadena Fire Department & their paramedics crews are required, per city ordinance, to be present during an event where fire or explosives of any type are present and there are large crowds. They have been present during most large events that the cult has sponsored in California. I'm sure it has more to do with protecting the City from any potential liability versus the safety of people there.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game I did say just for giggles, didn't I? EDITED: But! BTW "standard toy balloons" as you call them, ARE latex balloons of course. And yes they are filled with helium, which is lighter than air. Which in the code for releasing balloons is states that someone may not release balloons filled with anything lighter than air if it is made of a certain material. And everyone knows helium is lighter than air. But it does mention latex at the end of the code if you read it. It says that bouquets of balloons must be weighted so they will not fly away.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game What?? That, sir, is worthy of a Comm Ev. Report to Ethics, immediately. Oh wait... You're forgiven. The brownies were delicious.. I thank you... the nurses at my weight loss clinic won't.
Re: Pasadena Ideal Org Opening 18th July 2010 - Post Game This undercuts the irony and shame that goes with being on staff, and especially a member of the Sea Org. The informational-security apparatus that exists is no different than that which exists in North Korea and Iraq under Saddam Hussein. Everyone is trained to keep everyone else uptone and on the Bridge, by listening to what people around them are saying and informing on them. Comm Ev's & ethic violations are often called on members who have no clue why they are being punished, and many still are clueless, after they've been reprimanded. It leaves people with such a sense of fear & dread that they must always strive to portray themselves as one cog in a large machine that is not capable of exercising an opinion or independent thought. "Sheeple" is an adequate term to describe them. They are also lead to believe that their are Scientology agents who act as the Thought Police... they communicate with staff with the pure intention of setting them up and putting them in harm's way, so they become very mistrustful of everyone that's not in their inner circle... enforced isolation from the real world. The guard who said he didn't deserve $50/week is a perfect example of this. He may have considered the possibility you were a Scilon agent testing his allegiance to the cult.
