Did they perhaps say "en camera"? It's Latin, or French, or Aramaic, or something.

ETA: Like I said, "in camera". Pheer my litrasee.

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

    I agree.

The term is In camera, which means the committee meets in private. And we're back.

Today's hearing brought to you by Toshiba.
  7. Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

I'm sure the ESMB Crowd will tell us what they said.

OTOH, I'm now worried CoS will attempt something dodgy tonsme sure their submission is In Camera as well.

He did and if I'm not mistaken he launched into it seemingly right out of the blue but obviously with a need to make his upcoming points.

Also remember that scientology in the UK helped set another benchmark in 1970 when they lost an appeal for a failed application for a registering a place of worship (under the 1855 act which would have given them one more step closer to so called "religious recognition"). This is often referenced as the "Segerdal" case/test and helped define what constituted "worship" (and that scientology didn't do any).

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

public benefit commensurate with income of the group is a strong point

    hadn't heart that before.

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

Given that so many legal precedents revolve around the ‘exceptions’ it should not be surprising that ‘exceptions’ are relevant here.

Pushed it to the limit and still making her point!

But you can't spot a real trap, that's why it's a trap. You can't have an Obvious Trap, because that defeats the element of surprise which is intrinsic to *being* a trap.

    Not strong enough arguments here...

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

will they please say these Front Groups claim legally they are NOT associated with Scientology. Oh, and that little detail that they've all been slammed for false claims?

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

Not clearly enough made that the the tax exemptions the CoS are getting do not assist the programs, only heavily reg'd members do that.
  25. sheeple Member

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

    I disagree.

Pointing out that CoS is using the Nepal Narconon in their PR, yet not funding it with a dime, and.....demanding a tithe, whilst bullying the broke operator to keep on... That's pretty damaging in my book

James is bringing up the 'exchange' policy :)

Oh yes and Xenophon backing him up!

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

Front groups NOT scientology. All front groups have been peer reviewed and their claims exposed as false.

    Wog Justice!

    Fair Game!

    Go Xenophon!

Oh fuck, Cyrus must be STEWING sitting up the back listening to this!

Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

Watch scientology stumble as it will now be forced to ignore or defend. And I don't get the feeling that the senators will let them ignore what is being tabled here. We shall see.

All this talk of wogs will be interesting if this makes the UK newspapers.

    Next up (now) is:

Cult Information and Family Support (submission 14)
    Ms Ros Hodgkins, President

Also here is a list of australian senator meals: They would enjoy at least seven meals a day, when they can get them – breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and (later in the evening) supper.

Or maybe it's hobbits I forgot.
  39. Re: Public Benefit Test - hearing schedule published

    So far, all "us".

    IMHO

Nick X did well in keeping things relevant. Smart guy.
    BTW-
I seriously thought Michelle Sterling was going to speak. Was I wrong or did I miss her?
