Sharron Angle - Threatening Armed Revolt?

Nev. Senate hopeful Sharron Angle talks of armed revolt | ScrippsNews

    Discuss:

    • Is this just typical teabagger talk, or do you really think she's suggesting an armed rebellion against the federal government?
    • Should she be taken seriously?
    • Do you think the cult REALLY wants to be associated with this kind of person? If not, is there a way to exploit this?

Lol, She needs to be watched but it's the teabags talking. Funny logic though. The electorate is standing by, ready to take up arms against Reid should that same electorate retain him at the ballot box? Somehow I really don't think that's quite what Jefferson had in mind.

And yeah the cult pretty much has to take whatever they can get these days.

With the last part, she inferred, shockingly, that if she did not win the election, violence would ensue, i.e. "second amendment remedies."

    see here:

"I'm hoping that we're not getting to Second Amendment remedies," Angle said. "I hope that the vote will be the cure for the Harry Reid problems."

WOW. "Vote for me, or prepare to be shot"?

Sounds to me like what would happen if Scientology held elections. Slappy taught her, er, well. Luckily Reid is a more formidable opponent than the teabaggers realize.

Standard issue teabagger talk. America is only for Real Americans, they (like their John Birch predecessors) decide who is a Real American.

This is tangentally related to the topic of tea baggers.

well, she's right about why the second amendment is in the constitution, but publicly saying shit like this is gunna turn people off to her.

if she's serious about an armed uprising, she could be subject to investigation.

What would be funny, would be if some militia of minority tebaggian Palinists tried to execute a coup in some state 'cos hurr durr democracy and the constitution mean taking over from dangerous elected liberal democrats and ignorant elected republicans who refuse to drink the [STRIKE]tea[/STRIKE] cool-aid.

What would be super funny, is if they succeeded.

The last time the ideological peers of the tea bagger movement had a rebellion it was called The Confederate States of America.

Basically, this. And yes, there are plenty of TPers of like mind. However, it's more a case of "everybody" expecting somebody to "set it off" eventually than anybody actively seeking to make it happen now, and most -- like me -- agree with Angle that it isn't exactly something to be happy about and hope for.

A scholarly candidate might be able to take on the Establishment media in a debate about this issue, but Angle does not appear to be that candidate. Unless Nevada's angrier than I realize, this will end up backfiring on her (like other things already are).

    Worth watching, IMO.

Yea except it was mostly the democrats who did it, who all had a helluva good point back then even though slavery was and is wrong as hell.

Her statements sound like not-so-veiled terroristic threats against the people and duly elected government of the U.S. To her, the adherance to the Constitution are only valid insofar as they support her small minded, wretched beliefs.
It should come as no surprise she also appears to be a supporter of Scientology and its practice of human rights abuses and other crimes against humanity.

I heard that if Sharon Angle wins the election she will try to have nationwide blue laws reinstated and anyone who violates them by working on Sunday will be stoned to death.

What, exactly, does Angle being a loon with far too loose a leash on her mouth have to do with Chanology and/or Scientology?

    Plus, what JRUC said.

I know about Angle whoring for narCONon in particular, and Scientology in general. My question was what does her talking about armed revolt have anything to do with that. R2-45 aside, I wasn't aware there was a big gun issue with Scientologists.

Re: Sharron Angle - Threatening Armed Revolt?

It doesn't - it's just light relief at the expense of an anyways-viable target.

And teabaggers - I mean, come on... you have to laugh at the crazies to avoid thinking about the 'what ifs'.

Re: Sharron Angle - Threatening Armed Revolt?

Valid question; thanks for pointing that out. In fact, this is simply another shiny which could take the Angle/Reid focus away from Scientology. To the extent that it does, helping it do so will presumably be counter to the purposes of Chanology.

Quoted from a crazy source that actually got it right. The 2nd amendment was put there for exactly the reason that Ms. Angle said it was whether or not people agree with that doesn't change history.

The reason for the Second Amendment

Re: Sharron Angle - Threatening Armed Revolt?

Actually she said the 2nd amendment is in place should she lose in an election against Harry Reid.

That's not why the second amendment is there. I don't think a violent revolution is needed in response to a free election where the results are not in your favour. That's taliban-style thinking.

Fuckin' A. I know these conservative talk show hosts have lots of listeners. I have been pooning several of them, to no avail.

All of a sudden Lars Larsen shows up on here...durrr. Guess I need to make it political.

I heard that if Sharon Angle is elected she will outlaw puppies. Also, gays, blacks and anyone who has ever so much as smiled while a Tyler Perry movie was on the television will be deported.

Re: Sharron Angle - Threatening Armed Revolt?

Any nation does need revolution every 20 years or so.

The brilliance of America is that they coded that into the system.

See, throughout history, civilizations rise, revolution happens, much of the usable capital (buildings, wealth, infrastructure) is destroyed, and a new civilization rises from the ashes.

The American Constitution allows for regular non-violent revolutions, wherein the government changes, but none of the capital is destroyed.

The First American Revolution was a violent revolution. The Second American Revolution occurred the first time a sitting president's party lost a presidential election. And it established a precedent, when that president proceeded to setp down. When reading articles about fledgling democracies in Africa and the Middle East, be aware of how significant it is for a nation to have a Second (non-violent) Revolution. It's almost like a rite of passage for all truly free nations.

Anyhow. The Right to Bear Arms is specifically there in the case that this system that allows for regular revolutions is compromised by a tyrant. And the right to free speech works to ensure the system remains uncompromised. Given the current political climate, I believe supporting free speech is far more important than reminding the government that we have guns. The guns are for AFTER speech and fair voting rights are compromised. It's not there for when the other side is in power and has policies you don't like. It's also not there to magically make you less responsible for the debt your government has taken on.

edited to add: Bear in mind the key difference between violent and non-violent revolution:
In violent revolution, a great, GREAT deal of capital is destroyed. Lives are turned over. Crops fail. Buildings are abandoned or bombed out. Machinery is converted into weapons. Things get ugly.
The ability to HAVE non-violent revolutions plays a MAJOR role in America's global dominance (along with a shitload of natural resources). Our capital doesn't get destroyed, so we can continue to build on what the previous generation accomplished. Violent revolution can reset the game. It's not to be entertained lightly.

But make no mistake, I do regard it as an option, under the right circumstances.

So, how can we use this? Remind people that only unhinged people advocating armed suppression of a majority voting for a candidate they don't like are crazy enough to endorse scientology?
